Developed Sketch-Up Model - Final Screenshots

Below are my final three images which display my final developed sketchup model

Animations

Below are my three animations of my developed sketchup model:

The above video shows the progression from the main gallery to the lower studio (Banksy)

The above animation shows the progression from Malangi's upper studio, down the spiral stairs to the main gallery.

This final animation (pictured above) gives an overall depiction of my developed sketchup model.

Short Movie

The video below is a short movie which explore the glass stairs found in the Apple Store on George Street.

I felt compelled to embed this video since the stairs in my developed sketchup model are made from glass and have a similar form and shape to the ones in the video.

Textures

Below are my 36 custom textures . . .

The textures are as follows: (left to right)

Row 1: Fibrous, Layered, Resilient, Permeable, Modular, Translucent

Row 2: Flaky, Transparent, Magnetic, Course, Cobbled, Gradational

Row 3: Organic, Abrasive, Symbiotic, Opaque, Gestalt, Delicate

Row 4: Perforated, Rusty, Tessellated, Absorbent, Monotonous, Condensed

Row 5: Serrated, Porous, Homogeneous, Jagged, Elastic, Corrosive

Row 6: Conductive, Ductile, Reflective, Malleable, Brittle, Granular

Below I have chosen three textures to be included in my final scheme:

Course | Abrasive | Monotonous

I chose my second sketchup model to develop for the final submission. As you can see below I have incorporated the artists own work in the respective studios (Malangi above and Banksy below). Similarly I used the course texture for the outer part of the lower section. I chose to use the monotonous texture for the rise of each stair, to highlight the continuous rhythm they create. Finally the abrasive texture was used in the walls of the screens I created which surround Malangi's artworks.

Draft Building 2

My second draft sketchup model was based on the section above. The corresponding words are:

Above - Triangular (based on Malangi's work)
Below: Imagination (based on Banksy's work)

It is quite clear that the top half is symbolic of the word 'triangular'. I hope to use this unique collection of triangles as the roof to the entire section. I attempted to highlight the solidness of the lower section with the filled rectangles and ladder like shapes which elongate vertically down.

The above image displays my second draft sketchup model based on the hand drawn section above. The only main difference is the circular poles which extend from each rectangle. In the originally proposed section these were drawn as crosses.

The above image highlights the two pairs of stairs that were to be included in the model, linking the top studio (Malangi) with the middle gallery and similarly the middle gallery with the lower studio (Banksy). As you can see by experimenting more with the features Google skectup offers I was able to create a circular staircase. I was particularly proud of the second staircase which contains a platform which allows you to somewhat 'hover' above the lower studio level, as you make your way down the stairs.
The images below are rough hand drawn sections of each of the sets of stairs:

Draft Building 1

My first draft sketchup model was based on the section above. The corresponding words are:

Above - Converging (based on Malangi's work)
Below: Duality (based on Banksy's work)

I attempted to illustrate 'converging' by drawing a triangle which comes to a singular point. In the lower half of the section, 'duality' is represented by the two circular shapes.

This was my first attempt at using sketchup to draw the above section. As you can see it varies from the originally proposed draft.
